Lesson Dates

When you and your child sign up and enrol, you are reserving the place in the studio for the entire year. 

Lesson dates based on ACT Public School term dates, it might be different from the normal term dates 

according to my professional engagement interstates and overseas, please refer Studio Dates for details. 

 

Lesson Time 
Please come to your lesson time a little earlier so your child has time to settle, clean their hands,

use the bathroom and observe the other child before his or her own lesson. Please observe, take

notes and being part of the lesson, so you will be able to assist your child practice daily at home.

Please only use electronic devices for note taking purpose. Siblings are welcome to stay as long

as they are not disruptive, Parents need to supply their own quiet activity material while the older

sibling is having lessons. 

 

Tuition

Tuition is charged by the school year, paid in four equal instalments and is non-refundable. 
 

30 mins lesson: $605

45 mins lesson: $907.5

60 mins lesson: $1210

1st payment is due on 3 February  

2nd payment is due on 28 April

3rd payment is due 21 July

4th payment is due 13 October
 

Your tuition covers more than the time slot reserved exclusively for you and your child, and also time to prepare

for each student as well. This includes: 
 

Weekly lesson/ group class planning.

Consultation via phone, email or in person. 

Studio resource (maintenance of instruments, facilities, music lending library, photocopies). 

Teacher's professional organisation membership fees. 

Teacher's continuing professional training and experience.

Concert planning and preparation.   

 

Group Class

$77/ Term

All Book 1 and early book 2 students are required to attend monthly group class to reinforce skills for music reading

and musicianship through group activities. There will be no credits or refund if you miss the group class.

Senior students (book 5+) are welcome to join ensemble class.

 

You may not need as much as active participation as your weekly lesson, but please make sure you

are not chatting to other parents during the class and this will provide a good model and help your

child with better concentration. If the younger sibling is getting too distracting, you are welcome to

bring them outside of the studio till he or she is calm again.

          

Every Parent Can! Parent Education Course
$350, including the unlimited number observation sessions and 4 private phone consultation for new families.

New studio families are required to complete the course prior individual lessons, those sessions will prepare the readiness for both

you and your little ones, please see For New Piano Parents for details. 

 

Registration

$60 Per student. Annual registration covers the cost of:  

Website maintenance and technology. 

Bookkeeping.

Scheduling. 

Admission to studio concerts at the studio (excluding end of year Ensemble Concert or Chamber Music Concert). 
 

The Suzuki Family Membership is for all students learning from a certified Suzuki Teacher and will

be registered in the parent's name.  Membership covers all members of the family. Please refer the

website of Suzuki Music Australia for details.

Cancellation Policy

No payment credits or makeup lessons will be provided for students who miss lessons for any

reason. Any lesson that I have to cancel will be made up or a credit will be given.
 

If your child is unwell, please do not bring your child to the lesson, this is especially important to

protect everyone in the studio. A sick child will not be alert enough to have productive lessons, if he

or she is too sick for school, it also means he or she should not come to the lesson. The older student

can arrange Skype/ FaceTime/Zoom lesson on their regular lesson time if he or she wishes to.
 

Try to choose a lesson time in which you feel confident. Please understand that the tuition you pay

reserves an exclusive weekly time in my schedule for you and your child. Unlike a doctor or a

hairdresser, I cannot resell that time nor can I create extra teaching time in which to give lessons.

To help accommodate an occasional unavoidable change in student's schedules, you can choose to

be part of the Lesson Swap List. Please let me know if you do not want to be included in the list. 

Most parents will receive only a few request a year from someone who'd like to switch lesson times.

Some of my students drive quite a distance so it may not be possible for them to switch.

If you are away for an extended period of time and wish to retain to the same lesson time, a 30% of tuition

fee is requested for holding your spot while you are away.   
 

Lesson Termination
If you or your child must discontinue lessons, a written, four weeks notice is required.
Payment is due during this four weeks period whether or not lessons are taken.

 

Communication
I would like to use my words for praising students and showing parents practice points at the lessons.
It is important you let me know if there's anything special during the week (a quick text message
before the lesson helps a lot), so I can understand if the child is underprepared for lessons.
It is very important please do not criticise your child in front of me. I am happy to arrange a special time
to talk on the phone, email or in person if there anything you would like to discuss with me.

Video & Photo Release Form

I have a Studio Facebook page as well as my own website at actsuzukipiano.com. From time to time I use photos and short videos of my students on these sites which I also share on YouTube. These videos and posts are helpful to other teachers and much appreciated. If you do not want your child's image(s) to be used, please let me know. In general, the students love to see their pictures and videos on my website or teaching page. They find it motivating and exciting to think that others want to know what they are learning. The students are identified only by the first name.
